Louise McClure Workshop: Panoply...Six Narrative Charms

What: This fabulous series showcases six distinctive charms in various sizes and materials that you create! Everything you need to layer, fabricate and embellish each of the charms is included in the kit.

The origins of embellishment are rooted in symbolism and spiritualism. Unique to the human experience, we adorn ourselves and our environments with charms, amulets and talisman to seek protection from evil, encourage favor with the gods, invite prosperity into our lives. Not just objects of personal adornment that express wealth or identification, images, signs, symbols, stones and crystals have long been believed to impart certain energies and qualities to the wearer.

How: Create a half-dozen distinctive, narrative charms by cutting and layering various scrapbook papers and stickers with glass and inserting into metal bezels, layer bits of ephemera under heat set granules in a deep metal bezel, apply various textures, images and text with rubber stamps to glass mirrored discs, cardstock and mica, add color with a selection of pigments, paints, pastel chalks and colored pencils, and enhance your creations with gold and silver leaf pens, mica flakes and granules.

Combine simple scrapbooking techniques to form a multi page narrative journal charm.

Learn wire finishing and wrapping techniques to form links and attach your completed charms, beads, stone and crystal embellishments to a beaded chain base you create yourself.

Enhance your creation with velvet ribbon and sheer ribbons

Explore the magic of signs, symbols, numbers, crystal lore, talisman and amulets.
